Laryngoscopy

  • DIET: Soft food diet for the first meal after surgery and then advance to your regular diet as tolerated.
  • ACTIVITY: Resume all activities.
    • Strict voice rest for 3 days. Gentle voice use (no whispering or yelling) for 2 weeks.
  • MEDICATIONS: Pain medication as prescribed. Tylenol or Ibuprofen as needed.
  • FOLLOW-UP: Schedule an appointment with our office 1 weeks after procedure. Our medical assistant will call daily to check on the patient’s progress.
  • WORK/SCHOOL: Usually can return 1 to 2 days post surgery.
  • INFORMATION: Throat and ear discomfort are normal and will resolve over the first week after the procedure.
    • Tongue pain, numbness and/or tingling are normal and will resolve over the first week after the procedure.
    • Call our office if you are experiencing difficulty breathing, eating or swallowing, or fever over 101.
